Debate over BDS speaker at Mt. San Jacinto College through ‘diversity event’

Through what is being called a ‘diversity event,’ TIG has learned that several pro-BDS college educators are trying to bring a leading BDS advocate, Miko Peled, to Mt. San Jacinto College in Riverside county on May 13, 2015.

While TIG favors freedom of speech, especially on college campuses, it is hypocritical at best and fraudulent at worst to bring an Israel boycotting advocate to speak under the umbrella of ‘diversity.’

Peled, along with the organizations that are in support of him, advocate boycotting Israel, and their long history of anti-Israel actions are well document.

Following are the documents (both in favor of and opposed to Peled being the speaker) that have been presented to the college’s Diversity Committee which is meeting March 5, 2015:

The following anti-BDS information was submitted to the Diversity Committee in opposition to Peled by Denise Dalaimo Nussbaum, Ph.D., Chair, Sociology Program, San Jacinto Campus:

The following pro-BDS information was submitted to the Diversity Committee in favor of Peled by Shahla Razavi, Associate Professor in math at the Menifee campus:
